Commissions

Grip Fast Studio creates original works in ceramic, wood, and metal for private collections, residential spaces, and architectural environments.

Each commission is developed through a collaborative process, balancing the collector’s vision with the materials, methods, and artistic approach of the studio
Form, scale, material, color, and finish are considered in relation to the intended setting, while allowing room for the discoveries that are an essential part of creating original work.

tHE COMMISSION PROCESS

Commissions can be developed remotely or in person.

To begin, share a general description of the project, including its intended location, approximate dimensions, preferred materials, timeline, and anticipated budget. Reference images are welcome.

An initial idea is enough to start the conversation. The details can develop together.

We begin by discussing the intended space, the character of the work, and the ideas behind the commission. This conversation establishes the general artistic direction, materials, scale, timeline, and budget.
The goal is to identify a shared direction before moving into design.
Based on our conversation, we develop an initial concept that may include sketches, dimensions, material selections, and proposed finishes.
Ceramic surfaces and natural materials vary through making and firing.
Approved sketches, dimensions, and finish samples establish a direction rather than guaranteeing an exact visual duplicate. Any material changes to the agreed scope will be discussed before proceeding.
Once the concept is approved, a deposit reserves your commission and begins production. Because each piece is created specifically for its collector, deposits are nonrefundable.
Once the concept is approved, construction begins. The work develops through forming, assembly, firing, and refinement, with decisions informed by the behavior of each material. Progress photographs can be shared at agreed milestones.
When the work is complete, final photographs and delivery arrangements are provided. The remaining balance is due before release of the artwork.
Local pickup, delivery, shipping, and installation can be arranged according to the scale and requirements of the piece. Specialty packaging and installation services are quoted as needed.

Investment

Commission pricing is based on the size, materials, complexity, finishing, and delivery needs of the project. A detailed proposal is provided after the initial consultation, before any work begins.
TImeline

Most commissioned pieces require approximately 6 to 12 weeks from approval. Timelines will vary with the scale and nature of the work.
Delivery

Grip Fast Studio offers national shipping, local delivery, and local pickup for commissioned artwork, coordinated with you and specific to your piece. Shipping, installation, and specialty packaging are quoted separately unless otherwise noted.
